We exist to provide support and development opportunities for all new starters, raising business awareness and facilitating professional and personal development through a range of events, while welcoming new starters to National Grid.
With an elected committee, supported by our executive sponsor and Global HR Director, Mike Westcott, newnet organises many events – with a particular focus on learning and development talks, internal and external site visits, networking, community team building and volunteering opportunities.
Our focus is to enable as many new starters as possible to benefit from newnet activities. We also enable our members to build a wider network throughout the organisation, meeting others outside of their day-to-day work area and breaking down silos in the company. All employees can join for the first eighteen months of their careers (or for the length of their respective training programmes).
We also work closely with HR to support new starters through the ‘buddy system’ and welcoming new starters at assessment centres.
