A 23-employee strong ‘Wolf Pack’ from across the business completed a gruelling 10k obstacle challenge race over the weekend, raising funds for City Year UK.
Tackling a series of tough obstacles designed to test their mental and physical strength, skill and stamina, and running across raw natural terrain – including open ground, woodland, lakes and thick mud – the National Grid Wolf Pack proudly completed this as a team.
Commenting on the event, Shagufta Barker from Gas Transmission said: “A big thank you indeed for making it an incredible experience. The team work displayed was exemplary, as we barely knew each other – we really felt like a wolf pack. Thankfully, I have got tonnes of bruises on my elbows and knees only. Whew!”
Watch the team fully embrace the mud and truly race as a pack!
So far – with the support of colleagues, family and friends – the team has raised £2,478.82, but they still need your help to push this amount further! Their fundraising page is still open, so please dig deep and sponsor these brave runners to give them that extra boost.
Well done to the pack for completing this great challenge and raising such a fantastic amount!

About City Year UK
City Year UK is a leading youth and education charity, which challenges young people to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time volunteering in schools.
National Grid sponsors the charity through the Bridge Builder Programme, supporting the Volunteer Mentors who work in schools in deprived areas of Birmingham, London and Manchester; helping them to develop employability skills and find employment at the end of their placement.
We announced City Year UK as our 2019 Charity of the Year partner back in February and hope to raise £150k for the charity.
