Our Apprenticeship schemes have recently received recognition in high places; placing second in RateMyApprenticeship’s Top 100 Employers 2018-19.
Our Trail Blazer scheme is also celebrating an important milestone. Bryan Ashford, Acting New Talent Manager in the Academy, tells us more.
“It’s been an exciting few months for our Apprenticeship schemes. Summer 2018 saw the award of the 500th Trail Blazer Apprenticeship certificate. National Grid was at the forefront of developing these new Apprenticeships, with the Academy team involved in the development of the new standards from day one.
“Together with other leading utility companies, we have worked with Government and the Institute for Apprenticeships (IFA) to help define the landscape for new apprentices and industry in the coming years.
“We were thrilled to be invited to celebrate this landmark, along with other industry representatives and selected apprentices, at a reception at the House of Lords.
“It has also recently been announced that we have been ranked 2nd in RateMyApprenticeship’s Top 100 Employers. RateMyApprenticeship is an external organisation that supports students, schools and parents with possible future career options. Rankings in the Top 100 are voted on by current apprentices on our programmes. We also won a regional award for Best Apprenticeships in the West Midlands.
“We are delighted that our commitment to developing the future careers of young people has been recognised in this way. It is so important to give school and college leavers an alternative to university and our schemes do just that.
“They are also an important factor in how we attract future talent to National Grid, working collaboratively across HR and the UK business to create programmes that are exciting and relevant to future career progression.”
