10 October is World Mental Health Day. This week, we are promoting the range of services and resources, available at National Grid, providing you with tools and techniques to help improve your mental wellbeing and support your friends, family and colleagues.
What’s going on in your team?
What is your attitude to mental wellbeing? Is a member of your team struggling with stress or their mental health? Would they feel able to approach you? Do you need to start the conversation? Perhaps you need to have a Return to Work (RTW) conversation with them if they have taken time off due to mental health? If a demanding period of work is coming up, are you concerned about the effect on your team?
Services and resources for managers
As a manager, you are vital to maintaining a healthy and high-performing workforce but, when it comes to mental wellbeing, you may want some help.
Check out our guide for managers. You can also complete a stress risk assessment to anticipate issues across your team. If the Performance Excellence (PEx) programme has been introduced in your part of the business, use the ‘Barometer’ tool to keep an eye on the mood in your team. If you need more help, you can call the manager’s helpline within our Employee Assistance Programme.
Make a pledge in your own words
Many thanks to around 500 of you who have pledged personally to support our ‘Time to Change’ programme, addressing the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health. If you haven’t yet made a pledge please do so – help us to achieve 1,000 pledges!
