10 October is World Mental Health Day. This week, we are promoting the range of services and resources, available at National Grid, providing you with tools and techniques to help improve your mental wellbeing and support your friends, family and colleagues.
Great ways to maintain mind and body
The Five Ways to Wellbeing are a set of evidence-based actions that promote wellbeing:
Connect | Be Active | Take Notice | Keep Learning | Give
These are simple things that individuals can do in their everyday lives. The five ways have been used by health organisations, schools and community projects across the UK and around the world, to help people take action to improve their wellbeing.
Meet our Health & Wellbeing team
In the video, members of the team explain how the Five Ways to Wellbeing can provide great tools and tips for improving your life: peace of mind; energy and fitness for doing what you want or need to do; beneficial interaction with others, including new contacts; gaining knowledge and skills; planning for the future; and getting a sense of purpose and achievement.
Also in the video, following our ‘Time to Talk’ series of personal stories, two of our colleagues talk about their mental health journey and how they maintain their wellbeing.
Make a pledge in your own words
Many thanks to around 500 of you who have personally pledged to support our ‘Time to Change’ programme, addressing the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health. If you haven’t made a pledge yet, please do so – help us to achieve 1,000 pledges!
