A team of volunteers from Data Assurance, Gas Distribution recently entered the Hinckley ‘Soap Box Derby’, raising more than £350 for Macmillan in the process.
With a budget of £36 and innovative ingenuity, the team created their kart using recycled polyethylene pipe, which is more commonly used in the gas network.
Despite not winning, the team finished with a best lap time of 24.694 seconds. One of the team members, Hayley Smith, said: “I really did have such fun taking part, and I’m really looking to next year – we are going to win next time!”
The team also used the Derby as an opportunity to raise funds for our employee chosen charity, Macmillan, raising £352.94, excluding matched giving.
Well done to all that took part:
