Tonight National Grid will be handing on the baton of Responsible Business of the Year to the 2015 winner. Over 1,200 attendees at the Responsible Business Gala at the Royal Albert Hall will hear Steve Holliday, Chief Executive of National Grid, announce the winner at the end of the Awards event.
The theme of the evening is ‘Bring new energy to business’ and National Grid’s sponsorship of the event provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the top companies within the business community for their contribution to responsible business and the positive impact that it is having at all levels, from local to international.
14 Awards are being presented this evening. “These are hugely difficult awards to win,” says Dr Maeve Chappell, Programme Manager, Responsible Business of the Year. “Over 400 applicants entered this year and to become finalists they needed to demonstrate sustainable impact and benefit both to society. The entries go through peer assessment and are then judged by a panel. Steve Holliday chaired the judging panel for Responsible Business of the Year 2015. All the Award winners announced tonight are truly worthy champions.”
National Grid is hosting representatives from across its community programmes during the Gala. “We wanted to take this opportunity to recognise the many partnerships that helped us to win Responsible Business of the Year 2014,” says Maeve. “It was a great honour to win the award last year but our partners were not present. We’re making sure that they are with us this year to celebrate the end of our year as Responsible Business of the Year 2014”.
